FAQ

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash Extensions are a highly specialized luxury beauty service that requires proper maintenance and an extensively trained and licensed lash artist. They are one-lash to one-lash synthetic extensions added to one natural lash at a time. Single strands of high quality synthetic lashes are applied onto your natural lashes to enhance and extend your look. For Volume sets we apply multiple light weight volume specialized lash extensions to one natural lash for a fuller, fluffier look. We use the highest quality materials that are Vegan, cruelty-free and latex-free.

How do I choose the lash look I want?

Our lash artists create custom looks or any of the popular looks listed on our website. We use a variety of extensions to build the right volume, length and curl for your unique style.

Do you have samples of different lash styles?

Yes! Please visit our INSTAGRAM page @thehillslashstudio or checkout our GALLERY section on our website. Snap a picture of your favorite looks and have them ready at your lash appointment.

How long will my extensions last?

With proper care, your extensions will last 4-6 weeks. You should expect to shed most of them throughout the growth cycle of your natural lashes. We recommend coming by for lash fills when your extensions begin to look sparse.

Can I wet my lashes, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while having eyelash extensions on?

For the first 48 hours of wear we highly recommend that you don’t wet your lashes or use steam. After that 48-hour time frame, the adhesive has cured enough so you may continue with your daily lifestyle. We do recommend that you stay away from saunas, too much water exposure, and facials since all of these do tend to soften the adhesive which then loosen the lashes.

Give them the TLC they deserve. Exposure to steam or extremely hot water, and touching, picking, or rubbing your lashes can weaken the adhesive bond on your extensions.

What are Lash Fills?

Lash fills are touch-ups for your extensions. Performed regularly, they’ll keep your lashes looking full and luscious. You may need them more or less often depending on how well you look after your extensions, your natural lash cycle, and the style of your initial set.

Typically, clients get lash fills every 2-3 weeks, however some clients prefer to replace their full-set every 4-6 weeks.

How should I expect my extensions to feel?

Gone are the days of mascara clumps… Your lashes will be clean, separated and perfect! You'll wake up looking beautiful without the makeup and come out of the shower without fear of opening the door if you have visitors. Eyelash extensions reduce 20-30 minutes from your makeup routine. Some of our clients say they simply add some lip gloss, touch up their brows and go!

How long is the lash session?

We’re perfectionists here at The Hills Lash Studio. You can expect us to be meticulous, concentrated and precise. From design through application, the process will last approximately 60-90 minutes. Typically clients do fall asleep and that’s always a good revitilizing nap during your day.

Book your appointment at least two weeks in advance so your space is saved, we do get booked consistently. You can book online through our website BOOK ONLINE link or you can always call or text us at (323) 607-5797. We respond better to text messages that way we answer all of your questions and accommodate to your particular needs.

Do you take same-day appointments or walk-ins?

Do you take outside lash clients for outside-fills, removals, etc?

Yes, however we do ask that you please text us first (323) 607-5797  letting us know that you have outside work done as we do have different pricing for outside-lash work clients.

My lashes are sparse/short/fine/curly – will that be a problem?

Most clients are good candidates for lash extensions, no matter what their concerns. However, the style our artists will help you create may vary depending on your natural lashes. If you have concerns, consider a free consultation with one of our technicians to discuss a design that best suits your lashes.

Can I have eyelash extensions if my lashes are sparse, short, fine, or curly?

In the majority of cases, most clients are good candidates for lash extensions. Even clients with sparse and short lashes have had volume sets done since that helps close in any gaps.

Can I use mascara over my extensions?

We do not recommend any type of mascara. With the wide array of lash styles we offer, clients don’t find a need for mascara. We pride ourselves in our exclusive lash techniques that create a perfect fullness and have you waking up looking fabulous without the makeup!

Any oil based products can dissolve the bonding agent used on your extensions, causing the lashes fall out sooner. So if you use any type of makeup near your lashes, we do recommend that it is oil-free based.

Do I need to prep my lashes before I come in?

Yes, please. Make sure your eyelashes are squeaky clean – no traces of eye makeup, no lotions or oils – prior to your appointment. Use an oil-free make up remover and rinse well.

Any traces of oil or makeup (especially mascara!) will create a barrier between the adhesive and your natural lashes, causing your extensions to come off prematurely.

How do I care for my eyelash extensions?

To keep your lashes looking gorgeous as long as possible, we recommend you follow these key points:

Avoid contact with water or steam for 24-48 hours after your appointment to allow the adhesive to set in completely. The longer you wait, the better! If you must shower, clean around your eyes and avoid getting water onto your lashes.

2    Avoid exposing your lashes to prolonged heat, as this can weaken the bond and cause your extensions to fall off. No steam rooms, saunas or Bikram yoga for the first 24-48 hours. After that time frame, you may re-introduce your regular activities without concerns.

3    Only use a lash brush gently to move your lashes whenever one or two are off the side, this typically happens right after the shower. If they are getting a little unruly, you may also separate and tidy your lashes using a toothpick.

Avoid using oil-based products around your eyes.

5    Book your appointment at least two weeks in advance so your space is saved, we do get booked consistently.
